Okun was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1924. He got his start in the music business as a songwriter, but he quickly realized that his true calling was in record production. He signed some of the biggest acts of the era, including Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Rolling Stones.
