Okun was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1924. He got his start in the music business as a songwriter, but he quickly realized that his true calling was in record production. In 1950, he joined Columbia Records, where he worked with some of the biggest stars of the era, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Doris Day.

In 1968, Okun left Columbia to join Atlantic Records, where he became president of the company. Under Okun's leadership, Atlantic Records became one of the most successful record labels in the world. He signed some of the biggest acts of the era, including Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the Rolling Stones.

Okun was a brilliant record executive with a keen eye for talent. He was also a passionate advocate for music and musicians. He believed that music had the power to change the world, and he dedicated his life to helping artists make great music.

Okun's story is an inspiring tale of success and determination. He overcame poverty and adversity to become one of the most successful men in the music industry. He was a true pioneer who helped to shape the sound of American music.
